CROS in the Community: CROS NT Steps Up for WCRF with Tower Challenge

CROS NT & World Cancer Research Fund – Stepjockey Tower Challenge

On 28th September, CROS NT joined Stepjockey’s Tower Challenge to support the World Cancer Research Fund and its research towards preventative cancer. The WCRF is CROS NT’s sponsored charity throughout 2015 and we are committed to raising both funds and awareness towards their cause of making the link between diet, weight, physical activity and cancer through research.

Stepjockey tower challenge WCRF

The Stepjockey Tower Challenge is a 4-week challenge which encourages people to engage in daily physical activity by climbing the stairs in their office buildings. CROS NT registered three of its offices for the challenge: its Verona, Italy office, Maidenhead, UK office and Chapel Hill, North Carolina office. Using a dedicated Stepjockey app, participants scan posters when they start and stop climbing the stairs to register stairs climbed and calories burned. Total stairs are calculated as employees try to “climb” the equivalent of the tallest buildings in the world including the Empire State Building and Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building in Dubai.

Several CROS NT athletes are also participating in sporting events across the globe to raise funds and awareness for WCRF. On 4th October, consultant biostatistician, Paul Terrill, part of CROS NT Ltd. in the UK, ran the Chester Marathon and raised funds for WCRF.
